GLASS PAINTING WORKSHOPS
SYLVIA'S GLASS PAINTING WORKSHOPS TRANSCEND THE LANGUAGE BARRIER
ON JUNE 30TH, AND JULY 28TH, SMALL GROUPS OF SENIOR ESL STUDENTS FROM JAPAN - HERE FOR A FEW WEEKS TO STUDY ENGLISH AND CANADIAN CULTURE, CAME TO SYLVIA'S STUDIO FOR GLASS PAINTING WORKSHOPS. EACH STUDENT CREATED A SET OF 2 INDIVIDUAL 'CHERRY BLOSSOM' DESIGN GOBLETS IN ASSORTED SHADES OF PINK ACRYLIC. THE FINISHED PRODUCTS WERE SIGNED BY THE ARTISTS AND EVERYONE WAS DELIGHTED WITH THE PROCESS AND THE RESULTS. BEAUTIFULLY PACKAGED FOR EASY TRANSPORTATION BACK TO JAPAN, THESE GOBLETS WILL REMIND THEM OF THEIR WONDERFUL SUMMER IN VANCOUVER FOR YEARS TO COME. WE ALL HAD A MARVELLOUS TIME AND LEARNED A BIT OF EACH OTHERS' LANGUAGE.

MIXED MEDIA PAINTING WORKSHOP
On August 15th, 2006, 5 hard working painters gathered at Sylvia's studio for an intense private Mixed Media Workshop. The 3 hours flew by as the paints, inks, salt, and assorted Mulberry papers shaped our watercolor paper with ever-changing designs and colors. Painting party information: Book a painting afternoon party on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for 3 hours and choose from a selection of classes designed for any level of experience, and any age group. Workshops are fun with as little as 2 people, but a riot of fun with 10. All materials and supplies are included in the workshop fee. Surprise someone you know for a birthday. Some super workshops to be considered are:

- Painting a set of wine goblets and designing your own Wine bottle Label
- Creating Animation Cels
- Painting Self Portraits in the style of Vincent Van Gogh

Tots and Moms 1 & 2 years
These are some photos of my 2 classes of Tots and Moms Tuesday mornings at Aberthau. 10 children in each class of 1 hour, aged 1 to 2 years, but generally 18 - 20 months, go thru the learning stages of creating art and exploring different media. They are learning about gluing and pasting, shapes and forms, finger painting, markers, stamping, and stickers, stickers and more stickers.
We celebrate any holiday that happens, and create a 'picture frame' for each child to take home with their picture in it and lots of decorative stickers on it done by their hands. We make a 'name' bracelet for each to wear and enjoy. We make and decorate 'tambourines', and make 'fridge magnets'.
And every child has a lovely 'SCRAPBOOK' of all the artwork he has done in class, which has every page filled, as a keepsake for years to come.
